The Wild Country Ropeman 4 is a pocket-sized mechanical rope ascender built for rope access, self-rescue and emergency ascent. It's Wild Country's latest Ropeman, covering solo aid, positioning-lanyard adjustment and rope climbing from one small clamp.

The updated grooved side-plate closure locks the sideplate shut while you're on the rope, so nothing snags between plate and cam and it can't open sideways. Machined from lightweight aluminium alloy, it grips a wide range of rope diameters and also works on flat and tubular webbing slings. A generous cylinder hole lets it rotate freely around an HMS or oval karabiner, and the stainless steel wire has a durable plastic sheath that stays easy to handle in cold, wet conditions.

Small enough to live on your harness at all times, it's the back-up you'll be glad of on big walls and rope-access jobs.
