The hood, shoulders, sleeves and front body use a weather-resistant 20D stretch-woven shell over VerticalX™ Octa insulation, an open-structure fill that needs no liner and is 50% lighter than traditional polyester insulation. The back, sides and underarms switch to grid fleece with ActiveTemp™, which adapts to your body temperature and lets heat out when you're working hard. The result is a layer you can keep on all day instead of stopping to add or shed something every half hour.
Choose the Deviator when you're moving fast and generating heat; it's built to stop you overheating rather than to keep you warm sitting still at a cold belay. The fit is trim, so it layers cleanly under a shell.
