The Outdoor Research Women's Arete Modular GORE-TEX Gloves are a 3-in-1 glove system: a waterproof GORE-TEX outer with a removable 300-weight fleece liner. Wear one, the other or both and you have a glove for almost any cold, wet day in the mountains.

We rate modular systems for UK winters because conditions change by the hour. Outer alone for wet, milder weather; liner alone for high-output climbing or the walk-in; full system when the wind picks up on the summit. The outer has EnduraLoft™ insulation (100g) and a water-resistant goat leather palm and fingers for grip on tools and poles, the liner is touchscreen compatible, and a full-length adjustable gauntlet with a stretch wrist cinch keeps snow out.
