The 3/4-length side zips are the practical bit: pull them on over boots without a hop, and open them for fast venting when you are working hard. Articulated knees and a gusseted crotch give natural movement on steep steps, internal instep lace loops hold the cuffs in place, and the back pocket doubles as a stuff sack so they pack away when the sun comes out. A PFAS-free Nikwax Direct Dry DWR beads water off the surface and keeps the fabric breathing.
