The Outdoor Research Alpine AscentShell Bivy is a hooped, waterproof-breathable bivy for climbers who'd rather not carry a tent. At 528g with the pole, it gives you real shelter and far less condensation than you'd expect from a bivy.
The upper is AscentShell™ x Pertex® Shield Air Diamond Fuse, a 3-layer fabric that's fully waterproof yet highly breathable, so you wake drier and ready for the next push. A structured pole gives headroom and space for a little gear, and the step-in entry means no wriggling: boots off, step in, lie down. A no-see-um mesh panel handles bugs and ventilation on warmer lowland nights. The tapered shape works best with a tapered sleeping mat of up to 56cm at the foot. Choose it for alpine routes, mountaineering and fastpacking where every gram counts but protection isn't negotiable.
