Metolius Recon Crash Pad - Large Tri-Fold Bouldering Pad

The Metolius Recon Crash Pad is a large tri-fold bouldering pad that gives you more landing area without the bulk of an oversized pad. It's for boulderers who want proper coverage under awkward problems but still have to carry the thing to the crag.

Open, the Recon covers 106.6 × 152.4 cm at 10 cm thick. Fold it three ways and it packs down to 106.6 × 55.8 × 33 cm, a narrower folded shape that is easier to transport and store. Inside is Metolius's sandwich foam: a 1" closed-cell top layer to spread the impact, a 2.5" open-cell core to soak it up and a ½" closed-cell base for support and durability. Angle-cut hinges close up the centre gutter so there's no gap to catch a heel on an awkward landing.

Choose the Recon when one versatile pad has to do everything, or as the base of a modular pad system. If you want maximum coverage and don't mind the extra weight, Metolius's Magnum is the bigger, heavier, less portable option.
