The Metolius Hard Top Helmet is a lightweight, durable climbing helmet that pairs an ABS hard shell with an EPP foam core at a fair price. It's certified to EN 12492:2012, weighs from 250g and works across sport, trad, indoor climbing, mountaineering and via ferrata.
The two-piece construction is the point: the tough ABS shell takes the knocks and abrasion that come with hauling a helmet around crags and packs, while the EPP core absorbs impact and keeps the weight down. Large ventilation ports move plenty of air on hot belays and long routes, and the ultralight webbing retention system holds the helmet secure with minimal bulk. Two front clips and a rear elastic strap take a headlamp for early starts and alpine days, and the fit pads pop out for washing.
Sizing: S/M fits 52-58 cm heads and weighs 250g; M/L fits 58-61 cm and weighs 270g. Measure your head circumference and pick the range it falls in.
