The Muscle Mountain International SteadySole™ Foot Balance Beam is a 100cm raw beech hardwood beam for training balance, foot strength and ankle and hip stability. Feet spend most of their lives wrapped in socks and shoes; balancing on a 50mm beam is a simple way to wake them back up.

Balancing and moving along the beam stretches and strengthens the small muscles of the feet, and asks your ankles and hips to stabilise you, which feeds into core strength and posture. The raw wood finish gives excellent barefoot grip and the hardwood is strong and rigid underfoot. It also works as a massage tool: roll your arches and heels along it to ease tension. If you want something more intense and industrial, the manufacturer also makes the modular aluminium NeuroBeam™; choose the SteadySole™ when you prefer the grip of raw wood in a fixed 100cm length.

Getting started is simple: stand on the beam with one foot and let the other support you, then slowly lift it clear. From there, switch feet, move forwards and backwards, sideways and lengthways, and try squatting.

Why you'll love it

  • Raw beech hardwood – strong, rigid and grippy under bare feet
  • 50mm beam – narrow enough to challenge, wide enough to learn on
  • Balance and mobility in one – train stability, then roll out arches and heels on the same beam
  • Stable set-up – cork support stands keep it steady on the floor

Good to know

  • Included: 1 raw hardwood beam, 2 cork beam support stands, 2 toe bands that double as wraps for the cork stands
  • Length: 100cm; beam width: 50mm
  • Weight: 2kg
